Van Gogh Gets a Make-Over (& Munch too)

Normally, GREYCstoration is used to remove noise while preserving image details, and for photos I usually keep contour preservation in the range of 1.00 to 1.30 and keep anisotropy between 0.10 and 0.30. As an art experiment, I lowered contour preservation to 0.50 and increased anisotropy to 1.00 to produce some interesting results. Click on thumbnails below to view in high resolution. The spread filter in GIMP adds an oil pastel texture. "The Scream" images are at the bottom of this page.

A friend mentioned that I'm treading on sacred ground here. The irony is that the "Starry Night" image everybody is so familiar with actually has different colors than what Van Gogh originally painted. :-)
