This is where many of the published photos are taken. Not bad for a common spot with easy access. The helicopter trails remind me of confetti, as if the whole city is having one big party. Why are photos always rectangles? Why not a concave heptagon? High resolution download.
But if it must be a rectangle, why not a tilted one? High resolution download.
There were lots of tourists such as myself taking photos. And lots of different kinds of boats passing under the bridge.
I highly recommend driving all the way up the road and making the short hike up to the ridge. The view is amazing!
It's also a great place to meet other photographers and yak about photography stuff. This guy biked across the Golden Gate Bridge and then up the scenic road. He had to get back before sunset. Otherwise they make you walk your bike, and it's a long walk.
Alcatraz on the left. The white triangle under the bridge is a sailboat.
Stinson Beach. At 10 megapixels, you can see it's a fun place with a lot going on. Some photographers believe that reflections are "bad" and should be eliminated with a polarizing filter. In this shot I did the opposite: I emphasized the reflections off the water by orienting the polarizing filter differently.
One of the few places you can easily park for free.
All the houses are squished together like colorful marshmallows. The gingerbread man lives in the yellow house! But seriously, I really like the houses in San Francisco.
Steep roads are the norm, as well as nice views.
I noticed this while I was driving. Cute!
Lombard Street. Yes, that's a guy standing on a trash can to take a picture. :-) I'm sure he's not the first or the last to do that. This was on a Monday! I wonder what a Saturday is like...
At the top of Lombard, there are 2 trolley cars, a bunch of people walking around, and cars everywhere. It's a busy place.
That's it. I would have photos of Shasta but had to cancel my climb due to muscle soreness from downhill running. I had trouble just walking on the sidewalk, so wearing crampons was out of the question. Next year... |
