DESCRIPTION: Avalanche debris. The only reason the snow tongue comes down to 5,500 feet is because of avalanches in the winter. Elsewhere on the north and east faces, there is not significant snow accumulation at this elevation due to the proximity to the warm desert (Palm Springs).
