DESCRIPTION: There was 1 to 2 inches of slush as it was the first day of a warming trend. Fortunately the previous nights were cold enough to make a solid base for easy self-arrest in case of a slip. Erik's Grivels worked great and had good penetration and side area. My steel Kahtula's were sliding around, so I had to use 2 points of contact and a lot of swearing to make it up the mountain. :)
